
So, it's been about 6 weeks since the wedding and we still haven't gotten back into "ketosis."
In our defense, we HAD to eat leftover mexican food and cake from the wedding for like a week. Then, we went to Orlando- and I definitley wasn't giving up my mickey pretzel or ice cream. I gained back about 3.5lbs in a few weeks.
My goal for July was to get into ketosis and lose the weight. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! After coming home from Orlando, it was one excuse after another. We got back into it, then JP left for a week and I went to a conference.
What did I learn in this month? That eating low carb (just not low enough to get into ketosis) is what I need to do to maintain weight. I kept a decent workout routine, ate some desserts, and managed to lose 1lb. I think if I'd eaten 1 less slice of pie or had 1 less caramel macchiato, I could have lost some more weight. In general, I didn't have carbs in my meals. I still didn't snack, because my meals were high protein and kept me full. I saved my carbs for sweets.
The thing I missed the most about being in ketosis was the energy level. I was dragging all month. I didn't have the energy level to have the amazing keto workouts.
Aside from our kitchen being remodeled next week, August should be the most "normal" month we're going to have all year. So, here we go again! Back into keto and hopefully I'll lose the last 2.5lbs.
